DOE RUN, MO – Rain or shine, nobody seems able to stop Jacob Denney. The Galloway, OH driver picked up his ninth win of the season Friday night at Doe Run Raceway, extending his record-setting run with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota.
Denney led from the start and handled changing track conditions as light rain hit the 0.165-mile oval. Zach Daum kept pace early before spinning out on Lap 18, handing second to Gavin Miller. From there, Denney managed the cushion perfectly and pulled away to the checkered flag.
“I was really just trying to stay consistent,” Denney said. “When the rain hit, I moved around a bit and luckily made the right call.”
Miller settled for second, closing the gap in the standings but still trailing Denney by more than 300 points. Missouri’s Kameron Key impressed with a third-place finish in front of his home-state crowd, further cementing his Rookie of the Year lead.
