This weekend’s triple-header will set the stage for the Xtreme Outlaw Series championship weekend as the season winds down significantly over the next couple of weeks.

A return to Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Illinois) will kick off the weekend on Friday (today) followed by Highland Speedway (Highland, Illinois) on Saturday and Red Hill Raceway (Sumner, Illinois) on Sunday. Each race program will pay $4,000 to win featuring 30-lap mains on Friday and Saturday and a 25-lap main on Sunday.

Points battle

The points battle is tight between points leader Cannon McIntosh and Jade Avedisian as they have a 7-point gap separating them. Gavin Miller and Zach Daum are ones to keep tabs on as they, too, are in the points battle. Miller (-72) and Daum (-75) both look to try to close the gap on McIntosh’s lead even more than they did at Paragon a couple of weeks ago.

This weekend's races will be critical in setting up everyone’s scenarios going into the championship weekend, where a champion will be crowned and $25,000 will go to the driver who picks up the win.

Tickets for each event will be available at the gate on race day. If you can’t make it, you can watch it all live on DIRTVision!

DRN’s driver to watch

This weekend’s driver to watch is none other than points leader, Cannon McIntosh. Only six races separate McIntosh and his first-ever career national Midget series championship, but he still has an intense battle in points to go through to get there. He holds the points lead by 7 over Jade Avedisian coming into this weekend. The gap before Paragon between McIntosh and Gavin Miller a couple of weeks ago before Paragon being 121 points before the summer break in June. He has managed to do this with only six top-five finishes and two podiums in the past 13 races contested. McIntosh only had two finishes outside of the podium after the summer break in July.

Despite all the crazy, unfortunate moments that he and Mac-Dalby Motorsports have had this year, their confidence has not been tampered with. In addition to winning a POWERi National Midget Series at Jacksonville last season, he will finish up this season in his home state of Oklahoma next month. The three-race swing begins with his old home track Port City Raceway and will conclude with two races at I-44 Riverside Speedway, where he picked up the victory last year.

When and where Friday, Sept. 15 at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL Saturday, Sept. 16 at Highland Speedway in Highland, IL Sunday, Sept. 17 at Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, IL
