Twenty-nine races have been run so far. This weekend: this is it. A champion will be crowned this weekend for the Xtreme Outlaw Series.
The battle for a $25,000 payday has boiled into a battle between Jade Avedisian and Cannon McIntosh. Avedisian has an 11-point gap over McIntosh following the A-Main event at Red Hill Raceway four weeks ago. She will lead the charge into the final three races of 2023 this Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 12-14.
Things will kick off at the 1/8th mile bullring of Port City Raceway for the 4th running of the Donnie Ray Crawford Sooner State 55 which honors the Late Oklahoma Micro Sprint and Midget racer who was killed in 2012.
On Friday and Saturday, the series pivots its focus to I-44 Riverside Speedway for the 19th annual Charlene Meents Memorial, honoring the late MARA Midget Series staff member with two 30-lap A-Main events. 60 laps of feature racing will play a role in who will be able to win a championship. In these 60 laps, lots can happen and can and will ruin your weekend fast. $4,000 to win on Friday and $5,000 to win on Saturday. One lucky driver who wins the championship on Saturday will be making bank by winning $30,000 ($25,000 championship winning prize and $5,000 for winning the main event). A formal celebration will be held in victory lane following Saturday's program - the champion will be crowned.
All three events will be sanctioned by both POWERi and West Midget Leagues, which will also crown their respective champions after the conclusion of Saturday's event. On top of that, the POWERi/Xtreme Outlaw challenge champion will also be recognized awarding a $2,500 bonus to the driver who is on top of the points standings of the 11-race challenge event.
Driver to Watch
Jade Avedisian is a name you have heard me talk about all year long. Mainly since she is an amazing driver who has a chance to make motorsport history this weekend. She has a chance to become the first female driver to win a national Midget series championship. She isn’t the only female driver to make motorsport history.
One example is Kaylee Bryson becoming the first woman to make the A-Main in the Chili Bowl Nationals in 2022. The previous attempt by a female was previously held by Harli White with a 19th-place finish in 2016.
Avedisian has won seven career Xtreme Outlaw Series titles. Not only that, Avedisian holds the best finish by a female in the USAC National Series race a runner-up position.
With five feature wins, 14 top-fives, and 23 top-10 finishes in just 26 starts this season, Avedisian is one person you want to watch this weekend. She rocketed her way to the points lead after a fourth-place finish at Red Hill Raceway four weeks ago. This marks the third time she and McIntosh have swapped the potato back and forth in the points this season.
