Wayne County Speedway is located just south of Wayne City, Illinois, USA, and races Mod-lites, Dwarfs, Restrictors, A-Class (Sportmans), Non and Winged Outlaws, Jr Sprints, and occasionally USAC Midgets. Surrounded by farm fields, this track is in the middle of nowhere pretty much, but is home to some pretty big-time races! Including the Jason Laffer memorial race.
For it being my first time being there, I was very impressed with a few things.
The first thing I was impressed by is that they had somebody that was making sure that somebody had a pit pass. Which is a very important thing for a track to have to make sure nobody sneaks into the pits. Which I have seen on more than one occasion.
The second thing I was impressed by was the track crew. The track crew was pretty much on top of everything. There were several spin-outs, people that were hitting the tires around the corners, even people's cars breaking down, they were on it! So kudos to the Wayne County Speedway track crew for making sure that the track was safe for drivers to race on!
The third thing that I liked was that the pit area was flat. Some tracks have so many hills which are not fun to walk upon so it felt great to go to a track that I didn't have to walk up a hill on several times during one night. That climbing adds up after a bit.
The fourth and final thing is that there was plenty of seating for the fans. Although there wasn't a good turnout in terms of fans when I was there, there was still plenty of seating for fans.
In conclusion, Wayne County Speedway is an amazing track that has a great track crew, a great facility, and great racing. Jeremy Sneed runs a pretty great track and I look forward to seeing what this track has in the future.
My rating for this track on a scale of 1-10?
Definitely a 10.
