What's next for upcoming star driver Eli Holden in 2022?

Article was written by Dylan L Ellis

What's in store for the EHR crew this upcoming season? Not a whole lot. Driver Eli Holden is coming off of a great 2021 season where he won 18 different races across several different tracks across the Midwest and Tri-State area and a second-place finish at the 2022 Tulsa Shootout. He may only be eight years of age, but he sure knows how to race! He gets faster and faster every time he gets in the car. After a good-ish start to the 2021 season last year, the EHR crew hopes to start the season on a positive note!

Micro Sprints?

After running Jr. Sprints for the last couple of seasons, EHR picked up a restrictor late last season into the off-season. I do not have details of if he'll run it much this year. I am not going into detail on this at the moment. I will touch on this later on in the year.

Award-winning star

Eli Holden has a couple of championships on his belt. Besides those championships, he was voted the 2021 DRN driver of the year and Best Driver at the DRN awards.

My predictions for this upcoming season?

With the way Eli drives, I think he'll thrive in this upcoming season. Especially in a micro. He might win more races than he did last season, who knows? With a micro though, a lot is going on. Both mentally and mechanically. Bigger car, bigger engine, and bigger maintenance costs. (But let's not get into the cost right now.) Jr Sprints are mainly for beginner drivers.

Here's my theory on the micro side of things. When Eli gets behind the wheel of the micro (if able to) and gets enough seat time in the car and can handle it well (especially the power of a massive 600cc engine), and can hold his race line well without losing it, I think he'll win either all or the majority of races he runs with it. Again, that's my theory on that.

With new and faster newcomers coming into the Jr Sprint class the last couple of years, I think he'll struggle a little bit. But he always manages to pull through and get a win.

All in all, though, EHR has a huge season upon them and DRN hopes they have an amazing 2022 season! Go, Eli 5E! 💙🖤
